I address these lines to the University of Los Andes do not just mean its officers, teachers, or those who believe he owns the University, I am writing to all who are part of this Alma Mater, to anyone who is in my words a truth which includes the feeling of my second home, second but in that time step.
When few days ago, the University and therefore the community of Merida suffered acts of violence that brought the same consequences as always; chagrin of Venezuelans that live in the city, those who have reached hate the students and their repeated protests, and those who they became the day on another day lost more. Even some of those Venezuelans who are students really perceive as subtly as again we miss a semester or year hands should say, which is the only bright purpose to make me believe that I will graduate in more than I thought.
Of course I will not delve into the nature of the problem, not interest me much less interested me explain what happened, I can only say that rejection of violence and cast you, rather than by ideology hippie, a Christian ideology, adult and university. During
four and half years in my beloved ULA have not seen that protests are something productive absurd, violence begets violence and hatred, in many cases discouragement and disappointment. I'm not saying never worth protesting, but in the case of ulandinos protests have become repetitive, absurd, and perhaps the only route by which many believe they can get solutions.
University student is or should be an ultimate fighter and so I will always fight for my freedom, after all my freedom belongs to me, begins and ends where my fellow citizens . Freedom!, Freedom is precisely what makes them believe everyone can do what you want, me in particular makes me believe that I am not a slave to anything or anyone, I'm not a slave of violence or bad ideas, for example, but like all human beings make mistakes but I can and I can freely edit. Freedom is lost just at the moment in which we repeated our mistake because we are slaves to it, you lose even when many times we seek personal gain no matter the other under the idea that "the end justifies the means" or something as poor as it is, we have been living protests are simply blames them slaves, not free people and of course I do not agree, then ruins the image and stability of my University, and annoying to many people.
My point is that today the main problem of our university is "Lack of budget, we have four years with the same budget (much money), but day day we reach for less. Faculties and the Faculty of Arts suffer much this problem and students are forced together with teachers to purchase materials, often very expensive and does not produce or trade in Venezuela. Many times, as I have told my friends of Art, the excuse for this is that "engineering is more important" so we give more money to us and the worst is that engineering are the same, may not perceive this because there really is money, because otherwise we were not working, but I assure you that we realize when we participate in research or development groups, where more of the money needed to buy a package of leaves white for a department. This problem also affects the University preparers who have now seen our overdue payments and insecure, and when we complained we unfortunately have received unsatisfactory answers.
This budget problem almost certainly will have consequences that will bring to our days the protests of those I spoke, those who cast you always, useless, absurd. Here the questions are can we afford to waste more time? (Question especially for the Faculty of Engineering), we continue allowing a bunch of mediocre University harm us?, I think no, I think we can build a better university if we propose it, I think that despite the budget if we act like true college (smart) we recover what we have been removed, we can show the country that each day more worthwhile to partake of the ULA, we can demonstrate to agencies that we will never surrender, never will comply with what Today we as a university but we want more and fight for it, if we propose it will not fall into mediocrity or waste time because it will invest in better.
One day a great man told me that "If the University does not give you 100% of what you want but gives little or no torment will be disappointed, that little advantage you 100% "what I meant was that I did not complain of what is or is not my university, or disappoint me because it's not what I dreamed, but valued what he has and what it is today I understand that by doing this and fighting for a better university can achieve much more than we can provide, at last After all is our nurturing mother, mother who nurtures, Alma Mater.
